The Challenge of This Trip…
Conquer My Fears
Of Alligators! Snakes of all kinds! Sharks! Sting Rays! Wading in the marsh. Walking through high grasses along the shoreline.
I want to fish! I want to fish with Cary! I simply never thought that standing in water with a stringer of fish dangling from my hip is chum for sharks! I never thought about sting rays with poisonous barbs on their tails, would swim close to the marshes and around me. I definitely never thought, under any circumstance, would I even contemplate walking in high grasses (snakes) or wading in the marsh (alligators).
My level of fear is 10 plus, plus, plus. My level of courage is 1 minus, minus, minus. I really, really LOVE to fish. So what choice do I have other then doing all of the things I NEVER, NEVER, NEVER WANTED OR INTENTED TO DO!
So…my goal on this trip was to overcome my fears. Well…did I do it? HELL NO! BUT, I walked in high grasses and I did wade in the marsh. In fact, we were probably out there a few hours everyday. I did delegate the stringer of fish to Cary and a shark did come around (story for another day). I just stay a bit further away from him. My level of fear, still 10 plus, plus, plus. But my level of courage was at least a nine. So all in all, I’m proud of myself!
