Ebenezer Co Park, Rock Hill, SC
Dec 30, 2020 – Jan 1, 2021
On our way to spend New Year’s Eve in Fort Mill, SC with our friends, Brad & Rosie, we spent the night in Rock Hill. We found a great place to eat and have a beer at the… The Legal Remedy Brewery. They feature house cured and smoked meats. The brewery has a 17-barrel brewing system.
The food was FABULOUS! Cary had the meatloaf (ground beef, brisket, smoked turkey & bacon). I had the shrimp & grits (giant wild caught fresh shrimp over a grits cake (cheddar, scallion) topped with Tasso ham gravy. The best we each ever had!
When we pulled into our campground site, we found our new friend, Peggy. Peggy was in her 70’s and reminded us both of Cary’s mom. She’s been RV’n on her own since her husband passed 10 years ago. She pulls a 30′ camper behind her 1996 pickup truck. Her campfire was struggling a bit from damp wood, so Cary offered our wood and he built a blazing fire. We hung out with Peggy for an hour or so…Peggy drinking her wine and Cary & I enjoying beer from the brewery. We got to talking’ about southern grits and Peggy shared her crock pot grits recipe.
The next day we drove over to Brad and Rosie’s and had a great time visiting them…and we all actually made it to midnight! Rosie cooked a great NYE dinner to go with Brad’s smoked brisket on the grill.
