Lake Norman State Park, NC
Jan 1 -2, 2021
Lake Norman is a 32,000 acre, man-made lake. It’s amazing! You could probably fish every day of the. year and never hit to same place twice (unless you find a honey hole, of course).
Our campsite backed up to the lake and was really beautiful. The first night though, it was raining, so we stayed in the RV and cooked Salmon in the convection oven and broccoli on the stove. It was surprisingly good considering I had never cooked in a convection microwave before. It’s really weird to use a metal pan in a microwave. We watched a DVD, The Darkest Hour, the story of Winston Churchill. It was soooo good!!
The next morning we took a 5-mile hike. It was so beautiful in the woods and by the lake. But the trail was covered in leaves and because it rained the night before, it was muddy and extremely slippery. And I mean, slippery!
That night Cary built a great campfire. We roasted hotdogs and marshmallows with the backdrop of a gorgeous sunset over the lake.
The next day we drove to Sherrill’s Ford area of Lake Norman to visit our friends, Cindy and Mark. They live in such a beautiful house overlooking the lake. They treated us like royalty and kept cooking and entertaining us….we WILL be back. 😉
