Photos Cortez in Sarasota Bay

Photos below…click a photo to open the photo gallery.

Cortez (pop. 4,377) Historic Gulf Coast fishing village on the northern edge of Sarasota Bay. Walk over bridge to Anna Maria Island & Bradenton Beach. Weathered old houses & fish companies, boats old & new. A working fishing village. Plenty of areas to fish and birds so used to fisherman they let you walk within feet of them.

Favorites: Annie’s Bar & Bait Shop, Starfish Co (historic c.1920 wholesale fish co., restaurant & fresh seafood market), Bridge Tender Dockside Bar.

Fishing: We caught trout as fast as we could bait the hooks. Unfortunately, (no “keepers”…all too small to keep.
